Youth Winter Training

Winter Youth Running Group 2010

Bi-Weekly, Dec. 13 – Feb. 14

Peak Running is committed to supporting childhood fitness by offering youth-centered programs year-round. This year’s winter session will meet twice-weekly for 10 weeks, getting your children outside during the time of year when motivation is hardest.

The program will focus on:

  • Proper running form, flexibility, drills and plyometrics exercises
  • Increase overall athletic performance and fitness
  • Injury prevention
  • Evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of each athlete
  • Increasing endurance, speed, and strength
  • Skill development including form, drills, strength and stretching, goal setting, nutrition, and making practice fun

All ages and fitness levels encouraged.

Schedule & Cost


Tuesdays – 3:45-4:45
Thursdays – 3:45-4:45

The season will run from Dec 13 – Feb 14 for 10 weeks.


Location will vary.  (Huguenot Park or James River HS Track)




  • Proper clothes for winter training and running shoes recommended.   
  • Bring water and towel.
  • Proof of a current physical is required for participation.
  • Transportation will be the responsibility of parents/guardians.

Adult Winter Training

Weekly, Dec. 6 – April 11

Challenge yourself, meet new friends, stay outside, have an adventure!

Peak Running is for all runners of all levels from beginners to seasoned athletes. All runners need guidance in their workouts to maximize fitness, stay injury free and most importantly, keep it fun and enjoyable.

Our coached workouts will teach you how to…

  • Get fit and adopt a sustainably healthy lifestyle
  • Stay motivated with other runners
  • Improve running economy, form, muscular strength, and endurance
  • Properly pace, and how to handle discomfort in training
  • Increase confidence and develop mental toughness


  • 18 weeks, Thursday, Dec 6.-April 11 (no training Dec. 25-27)
  • Each session meets for 60-75 minutes and provides a complete workout, including drills, running and stretching exercises.
  • We will culminate our training at the Monument 10k.
  • Come to the sessions that best fits your schedule or both:
    • Tuesday 7:30am
    • Thursday 7:30am

We’ll include some fun holiday socials along the way too!

9th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run: Thursday, November 22

Join Peak Running at Huguenot Park on Thanksgiving Day for the

9th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run.

The fun starts at 7 a.m. (or whenever you can get there!). Run or walk at your own pace and distance. All are invited.

Hope you’ll join us in a low-key jog around the trails to take some quiet time to reflect on your blessings! What better way to kick off Thanksgiving Day?

Warm coffee and treats provided.
