Youth Winter Training

Winter Youth Running Group 2010

Bi-Weekly Youth Fitness Program, Dec. 14 – Feb. 15

Peak Running is committed to supporting childhood fitness by offering youth-centered programs year-round. This year’s winter session will meet twice-weekly for 10 weeks, getting your children outside during the time of year when motivation is hardest.

The program will emphasis:

  • Practice proper running form, flexibility, drills and plyometrics exercises
  • Increase overall athletic performance and fitness
  • Injury prevention
  • Evaluate and consider the strengths and weaknesses of each athlete
  • Increase the athlete’s  endurance, speed, and strength
  • Skill development is essential to sports; we include form, drills, strength and stretching, goal setting, nutrition, and making practice fun
  • Runs will vary according to individual’s age and fitness.

Program Schedule & Cost

Thursdays – 3:45-4:45
Saturdays – 11:30-12:30

The season will run from Dec 14 – Feb 15 for 10 weeks.

Where: Location will vary.  (Huguenot Park or James River HS Track)

Program cost:  $325

Dress Code: Proper clothes for winter training and running shoes recommended.   

What to bring: Water and towel.

Proof of a current physical is required for participation.
Transportation will be the responsibility of parents/guardians.

Adult Winter Training

Weekly, Dec. 7 – April 14

Challenge yourself, meet new friends, have an adventure!

Peak Running & Fitness is excited to once again offer a winter program — an intimate, informative, relaxing and challenging running experience for people of all athletic abilities. Over the course of our program, you’ll do a variety of coached workouts while enjoying the fellowship and safety of group running. We’ll include some fun holiday socials along the way too!

  • Getting fit
  • Leading a healthy lifestyle
  • Staying motivated with other runners
  • Improving running economy, form, muscular strength, and endurance
  • Learning proper pacing, and how to handle discomfort in training
  • Increasing confidence and developing mental toughness

The session will run for 18 weeks starting Tuesday, Dec 5.  Group meets for 60-75 minutes and provides a complete workout, including drills, running and stretching exercises. We will culminate our training at the Monument 10k.

Come to the sessions that best fits your schedule:

  • Tuesday 7:30am
  • Thursday 7:30am

Where: Huguenot Park or James River HS Track (locations will vary)

Dates:  December 7- April 14 (no training Dec 26-28)

8th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run: Thursday, November 23

Join Peak Running at Huguenot Park on Thanksgiving Day for the

8th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run.

The fun starts at 7 a.m. (or whenever you can get there!). Run or walk at your own pace and distance. All are invited.

Hope you’ll join us in a low-key jog around the trails to take some quiet time to reflect on your blessings! What better way to kick off Thanksgiving Day?

Warm coffee and treats provided.
